Alicia Sanchez is, in a word, phenomenal. She is a standout member of East Tech’s Sports Medicine Program, a seasoned competitor with HOSA, a leader in NHS, and has given over 200 hours of service to Sunrise Hospital’s Pediatric and Mother and Infant Care units, working with families and parents and providing on-the-spot translation services for families when needed. I have been given the honor of recommending an outstanding young lady Miss Mersal Ashraf for the Star Graduate at Mojave High School. Mersal is a student that has had many setbacks in her life, however; she has not let that deter her from doing what she has to do. She has never made excuses or used her situation as a crutch. Kyra Larsen is one of the most amazing people on earth. She has more energy than a supernova and a positive outlook that would convert Eeyore. Kyra was elected student body president of Moapa Valley High School and led the student body through the unusual and difficult 2020-2021 school year. She went above and beyond the normal responsibilities of a student body president and worked tirelessly with community members to create activities and opportunities for students in our rural community to have a semblance of normalcy in an abnormal situation. Elyse Schwartz is a resilient young lady. She was hit with an illness the last semester of her junior year and due to the pandemic, she was unable to engage in fixing her academic situation. Instead of making excuses, she came into Nevada Learning Academy (NVLA) at CCSD as a determined senior who was ready to turn a negative situation into a positive outcome for herself as a highly successful student. Southeast Career Technical Academy is proud to name Michael Ramirez as our Star Student. There are many accomplishments Michael has attained in his four years at Tech which we are excited to share. He has maintained a challenging academic schedule where his grades have never slipped. Even with a year dealing with a pandemic, Michael’s work ethic has continued to be evident. Agenda Item 5.01 2021-2022 Tentative Budget The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees received a budget update from Chief Financial Officer Jason Goudie. The presentation provided information on the tentative budget for the 2021-22 school year. The presentation of the 2021-22 tentative budget aligns with the timeline for when the District must submit the information to the Nevada Department of Taxation on April 15, 2021. Kyle is a very accomplished and dedicated student, and most especially a very dedicated trumpet player. No matter what assignments he is given, Kyle always completes them perfectly and on time. There are no challenges that he regards as too difficult. Maria Ramirez Martinez is one of our best and brightest students here at Sunrise Mountain High School. She currently has a weighted GPA of 4.932. She has taken AP and Honors courses all four years of her time in high school. She has earned predominantly A’s in all of these classes, and nothing lower than 1 or 2 B’s. During this time, she also took two years of Culinary Arts, and has reached the Advanced Literacy level in Spanish.
