The U.S. Department of Education recognized two Clark County School District (CCSD) schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2021. Charlotte Hill Elementary School and Frank Lamping Elementary School are recognized for the “Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing” category. The schools recognized are two of 325 schools nationally. This recognition is a national award given annually by U.S. Department of Education, and is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups. Members of the public are invited to attend the Redistricting Information Session on Monday, September 27 at 5:30 p.m. at the Edward A. Greer Education Center (2832 E Flamingo Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89121). Information will include a timeline to help the public understand the process. Per federal and state law, Trustee Districts are being reapportioned in alignment with the 2020 Census to account for rapid growth over the past 10 years. The Clark County School District (CCSD) and the Education Support Employees Association (ESEA) have reached an agreement regarding compensation for mileage and pay with regard to employees complying with the mandatory testing directive for COVID-19 testing. Employees will be compensated for their mileage and time, at the overtime rate when appropriate, for complying with the COVID-19 testing directive that was established for employees not vaccinated on or by August 4, 2021. A total of 62 Clark County School District (CCSD) high school students have been selected as semifinalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. They represent less than one percent of the U.S. high school seniors and qualify to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $30 million to be offered next spring. Palo Verde High School Principal Amy Herring Smith, students and staff placed a new flag on the Barbara Edwards Memorial. The school’s color guard, drill teams and choir participated in an outstanding ceremony. The annual rededication ceremony is held in remembrance of the victims, including the school’s foreign language teacher Barbara Edwards. Edwards was a passenger on American Airlines Flight 77, which crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11.

The Clark County School District has contracted with Foundation 99 to provide employees with financial wellness tools including access to certified financial coaches for financial conversations free of charge. Foundation 99 is a 501(c) (3) public charity that works with school districts, municipal agencies, and community organizations to deliver financial guidance at no cost to the organization or the individual.
