As part of its celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week, the Clark County School District (CCSD) surprised seven first-year teachers the week of May 3-7 with surprise presentations, announcing that they had been selected as New Educators of the Year.  The teachers were not aware of their selection until a group of presenters, which included representatives from the school and the district’s Onboarding and Development Department conducted surprise presentations. The employees are honored in the following six categories: Elementary Primary (PK-2), Elementary Intermediate (3-5), Middle School, High School, Special Education, Specialists and Other Licensed Professionals. The Magnet Schools of America (MSA) honored Thurman White Academy of the Performing Arts with the Dr. Ronald P. Simpson Distinguished Merit Award at its 38th National Conference, held virtually April 27-30, 2021. According to the MSA, the designation is considered the most prestigious award for magnet schools in the nation and the winning school is awarded $5,000. Along with the Dr. Ronald P. Jordyn is an excellent student. She is always challenging herself with a rigorous schedule even though she is involved in many extracurricular activities. She plays competitive softball as well as being on our school’s championship softball team. She is also a member of our student council and devotes extra time to make sure our student activities are well planned. Zanta Nwuli is the Star Grad Nominee for Shadow Ridge High School. It was a tough decision for this graduating class because there are so many deserving students. In anticipation of the Nevada Economic Forum’s meeting on May 4, 2021, the Nevada Association of School Superintendents (NASS) are encouraged that with strong mitigation measures in place, Nevada is experiencing early signs of an economic recovery. Luciano is a top student in the Medical Magnet Program here at Rancho High School and he will be a first-generation college student in the fall at Yale University studying Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology.
