Dear Clark County School District families: As you may have heard, a solar eclipse will be occurring on Monday, April 8, 2024. A total solar eclipse is something that will not happen again for another 20 years. While we are not in the path to observe the total solar eclipse, we will still experience a partial eclipse in southern Nevada from approximately 10:12 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event may impact regularly scheduled outdoor activities, student arrivals, or dismissal times. Liberty High School is proud to recognize Jennifer Orozco as our 2024 Star Graduate. During her time at Liberty High School, Jennifer has been able to maintain a cumulative weighted GPA of 4.886 while taking a full load of rigorous courses. She is a consistent honor student that has excelled in Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment courses. Jennifer moved to Nevada from Illinois after her sophomore year. Del Sol Academy of the Performing Arts mariachi students who are members of “Encendido” and “Fuego” participated in the Disney Imagination Campus at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The students earned the opportunity to experience what it feels like to be a professional performer on and off the stage. As part of Imagination Campus, students are treated as working professionals and become honorary Disney Cast Members for the day. The youngest son of immigrant parents from a small, rural community in El Salvador, Joel Lemus is rising above all expectations. Through growing up watching his parents’ struggles to provide the American Dream to his family, Joel has come to value hard work and education. Clark County School District (CCSD) families are invited to attend the next Family Academy event on April 6, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Western High School, 4601 W. Bonanza Rd. Workshops focused on summer learning at-home will be available to families. Participants will receive the resources and tools to support their student. Parents/guardians can choose to attend the adult session, or the session for families learning together.
