A total of 78 Clark County School District (CCSD) high school students have been selected as semifinalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. They represent less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors and qualify to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million. These students were among the highest-scoring participants in Nevada out of more than 1.5 million juniors in more than 21,000 high schools nationwide. The Clark County School District (CCSD) will be participating in National School Bus Safety week taking place from October 17 – 21, 2022, with the theme “1 Bus + 1 Driver = a BIG Impact on Education.” CCSD Transportation maintains the largest owned-operated school bus fleet in the country. That is why it is important for drivers in southern Nevada to recognize the importance of School Bus Safety every day of the year.

Agenda Item 3.01 – Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan Update – Student Achievement  The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of Trustees were provided with a presentation regarding the District’s efforts on student achievement. As part of the report, Differentiated School Support Framework overall results show 59% of schools with increased index scores in the Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPF). The Clark County School District (CCSD) will observe National School Lunch Week (NSLW) from October 10-14. The NSLW theme this year is “Peace, Love & School Lunch,” which is designed to show parents, students, and school officials the benefits of eating school lunch. The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) serves nearly 30 million children every school day. The Green Our Planet’s Giant Student Farmers Market took place on Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Clark County Government Center.        Billed as the largest student market in the U.S., the event featured more than 500 students from 50+ schools in Southern Nevada, students run the market themselves, selling school-grown fruits, herbs, veggies, and crafts to the public. Contributions are then reinvested back into the school’s garden programs. The market is held every fall and spring.
