The first day of the 2023-24 school year is Monday, August 7, 2023. Registration: Families new to CCSD may begin their registration process online via register.ccsd.net. Families with currently enrolled students can complete registration using Parent Portal via Infinite Campus (campusportal.ccsd.net). Vaccinations: The State of Nevada requires the following vaccinations for students enrolling in school: chickenpox (varicella), hepatitis A, hepatitis B, polio, tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (DTaP and Tdap), quadrivalent meningitis, and measles-mumps-rubella (MMR). LAS VEGAS – The Clark County School District (CCSD) recognizes the importance of mental health in every child’s development, well-being, and educational outcomes. Utilizing ESSER III (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief) funding, the District is working with the Cook Center for Human Connection to provide families with free access to resources focusing on mental health challenges through ParentGuidance.org.  This new resource includes video courses on demand covering difficult parenting topics. The Clark County School District (CCSD) encourages students and families to start their summer fun with its annual social media challenge, the Summer Reading Photo Contest. The District recommends that students read for at least 30 minutes a day to continue building their literacy skills through the summer break. Students can choose to read a book, magazine, comic books, newspaper or listen to an audiobook. To participate, parents and students must post photos of their reading adventures using the hashtag #ReadWithMeCCSD. Agenda Item 2.08 – Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan Update pertaining to Teacher, Recruitment, and Critical Labor Shortage The Clark County School District (CCSD) made gains in hiring 20% more teachers than the previous year. The District developed and fostered relationships with Historically Black College and Universities as well as Hispanic Serving Institutions to recruit teachers. Agenda Item 2.21 – New Grant Application: Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, Nevada Department of Education, Title IV, Part A, United States Department of Education The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of Trustees approved a grant application for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act grant to provide students with safer and healthier learning environments. The $1.7 million federal grant will help the Clark County School District Police Department (CCSDPD) implement the newly formed Middle School Division. Happy Juneteenth! We celebrate this significant day in history commemorating the end of slavery in the nation.  CCSD offices will be closed on Monday, June 19, 2023, in observance of Juneteenth. Students in Pre-Kindergarten to fifth grade are invited to a fun-filled evening full of storytelling at the Family Support Center, 1720 S. Maryland Pkwy., from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 29.  Students are encouraged to explore books from different countries and cultures from around the world. There will be book-making stations, interactive storytelling, family learning and resources, prizes and free books while supplies last.  Light refreshments will be served.
