The Clark County School District (CCSD) and the Clark County Education Association (CCEA) announced a tentative Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that will be an important step for students in grades pre-kindergarten through third grade to return to a potential face-to-face instructional model in 2021 at the appropriate time, while maintaining health and safety guidelines.  The intent of the MOA is to attempt to eliminate, or at least minimize, the adverse effects of the COVID-19  pandemic on the social-emotional and physical well-being of CCSD students.  “The Board is aware of the concerns educators and families have about returning to school campuses,”…

Safety, academics and school climate are the focus of the annual Clark County School District (CCSD) Districtwide Parent/Guardian Survey, available online from now until 5 p.m. Dec. 18, 2020, at ccsd.net/survey. The 10-minute survey, available in English and Spanish, is confidential and part of the District’s efforts to engage the community on important issues facing students and their families. Agenda Item 5.01 – Review of American Indian/Alaska Native Policies and Procedures. The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees received a presentation on the American Indian/Alaska Native Policies and Procedures. It is the intent of CCSD that all Indian children of school age have equal access to all programs, services and activities offered within the school district. To this end, CCSD will consult with local tribal officials and parents/guardians of Indian children in the planning and development of Indian Policies and Procedures (IPPs), general education programs, and activities. Agenda Item 3.01 – 3.03 – Presentation of the Annual Independent Auditor’s Report for the Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 2020 The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees and the CCSD Audit Advisory Committee held a joint meeting to discuss the audit of the financial statements of CCSD. LAS VEGAS – Agenda Item 5.02 – COVID-19 Update The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees received an update on COVID-19 and the District’s response.  Trustees reviewed the latest health numbers available from the Centers for Disease Control and local health authorities in regard to the risk of transmission in schools. The Southern Nevada Health District’s Acting Chief Health Officer Fermin Leguen provided information on the current test positivity rate and recommendations to allow students back into the classroom in some form.
