CCSD Board of Trustee Meeting Recap, Oct. 8, 2020
Agenda Item 5.01 – Update on COVID-19 and the Clark County School District’s Response.
The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees received an update on COVID-19 and the District’s response.
The presentation included indicators for dynamic school decision making including:
- Number of new cases per 100,000 persons within the last 14 days
- Percentage of tests that are positive during the last 14 days
- Percentage change in new cases per 100,000 population
The presentation also included information about emotional well-being resources for students, families and staff. CCSD has provided more than 23,000 wellness checks so far this school year to check on students at risk of truancy, addressing mental health needs and reducing obstacles to accessing their education.
This was not an action item and no vote was taken regarding full-time distance education.

Agenda Item 6.01 – Superintendent Communication.
During the meeting, Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara announced that CCSD is launching a virtual learning and listening tour next week.
From Oct. 12 until Oct. 15, the Superintendent will listen firsthand to a myriad of stakeholders who directly impact students’ lives. Listening sessions like these have been successfully implemented at school districts across the country, unifying leaders and their communities as they strive to provide the best possible education to all students.
Agenda Item 4.01 Resolution for Title IX Amendments.
The Board of School Trustees unanimously approved a Resolution for Title IX Amendments. CCSD does not discriminate on the basis of sex in its education programs or activities, and is required by Title IX not to discriminate in such a manner.
The federal regulations implementing Title IX were recently amended to specifically address sexual harassment. The action was taken to maintain federal funds.

Duane Bickmore – Selected as the new principal for Justice Myron Leavitt Middle School.
Served as assistant principal at Cimarron-Memorial High School and Cheyenne High School.
Lindsay Packer – Selected as the new principal for Keith C. and Karen W. Hayes Elementary School.
Served as assistant principal at Judy & John L. Goolsby Elementary School.
Marbella Alfonso – Selected as the new principal for Frank F. Garside Junior High School.
Served as assistant principal at Sierra Vista High School.
Tiffany Burlacu – Selected as the new principal for C.P. Squires Elementary School.
Served as assistant principal for Eva M. Wolfe Elementary School.
Laura Willis – Selected as the new principal for Northwest Career and Technical Academy.
Served as principal at The STEAM Academy at Jim Bridger Middle School.
Darlin Delgado – Selected as new principal for Rancho High School.
Served as principal at East Career and Technical Academy.
