17 May Star Graduate: Josh Mattson of Laughlin High School
Star Graduate Josh Mattson of Laughlin High School is a unique, kind young man. He is very inquisitive, responsible and wants to learn. He stands out because of his caring nature and concern for others. He has a positive attitude and puts the needs of others before his own.
Josh has steadily improved his academic status and has become a respected member of the Laughlin student family. He participated in football, track and wrestling where he was selected as team captain. He was part of the Transition Summit team from Laughlin and attended the Transition Summit in Reno. He is applying the skills he learned at the summit by becoming a presenter at the CCSD Transition Leadership Summit in Las Vegas.
Josh has participated in the culinary arts program in high school for three years and serves as a mentor for other students in that program. He is part of the publication class and helped develop the wrestling page of the yearbook.
Outside of school, Josh keeps busy doing volunteer and service work at his church and in the community. He also works a part-time job to help his family. Josh is a primary caretaker for his father and also helps his mother with meal preparation and household chores. He plans to continue his education after graduation and pursue a career as a registered nurse.
