01 Aug Protecting our community’s most precious resource — our kids
In addition to providing rich and rigorous instruction, the Clark County School District is entrusted with protecting our community’s children.
The overwhelming majority of our employees work diligently to develop appropriate relationships with students, but even one employee or volunteer who has an inappropriate communication or relationship with a student is one too many.
The CCSD Board of Trustees passed a regulation in September 2017 that defined appropriate relationships between students and CCSD employees.
Policy 4100 and Regulation 4100 include a requirement that all CCSD employees, representatives and volunteers use pre-approved communication systems to communicate with students about education-related matters, including athletic and extracurricular matters. You can read more about the policy at ccsd.net/protectourkids.
Individual one-on-one texting between students and employees/representatives/volunteers is not allowed under Policy and Regulation 4100 except when exigent — or urgent — circumstances exist.
The following pre-approved electronic systems log conversations between students and employees/representatives/volunteers and can be used to communicate with students. Employees/representatives/volunteers can use the following systems to communicate with students:
- Blackboard Connect (ParentLink)
- Infinite Campus Portal
- Instructure Canvas
- Saba Centra
- Microsoft Office 365
- CCSD G Suite for Education Apps, including Mail, Drive, Classroom, Hangouts, Chat
