Federal financial aid application updated for easier process and increased access

A new version of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available for 2024-25 applicants. The Federal Student Aid Office, part of the U.S. Department of Education, announced the updated form will help expand eligibility for students seeking financial assistance, as well as a streamlined user experience.

Officials estimate that applicants may answer as few as 18 questions, which could take less than 10 minutes to complete. The Federal Student Aid Office estimates more than 600,000 new students from low-income backgrounds may be eligible to receive Federal Pell Grants due to the updates to student aid calculations. Additionally, applicants may be able to skip up to 26 questions based on their backgrounds.

Clark County School District (CCSD) students and families may seek guidance from their high school counselor on planning for college.
