LAS VEGAS – Agenda Item 2.12-2.18 – Critical Labor Shortage Areas

The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees voted to designate certain positions as critical labor shortage areas including:

  • bus drivers, special education bus drivers and bus driver trainees
  • elementary and secondary licensed personnel positions
  • secondary mathematics, science and English licensed personnel positions
  • substitute teachers
  • secondary career and technical education positions 
  • special education positions

The District has utilized this designation in the past to help attract candidates for hard-to-fill positions. Under Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 286.523, this designation allows recently retired personnel to return to the classroom and begin serving in those positions without delay.

Agenda Item 3.02-3.04 Notice of Intent – Clark County School District Regulation 2500-2500.2

The Board was presented with the notice of intent for regulations concerning service animals, emotional support animals and schoolwide therapy dogs.  

These regulations provide guidelines regarding service animals, emotional support animals and schoolwide therapy dogs on all CCSD properties and at District-sponsored activities. The proposed regulations are intended to promote the health and safety of students and staff and maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
