13 Jun CCSD Trustees to hold public meeting on Gender Diverse draft policy

For several years, the Clark County School District (CCSD) has worked with families and students to create plans that address the rights and needs of gender diverse students on a case-by-case basis. At their regular meeting on June 14, Trustees will consider draft Policy 5138, which puts that process in writing and incorporates language from the Nevada Department of Education (NDOE) designed to protect students from discrimination based on gender identities or expressions.

The CCSD Board of School Trustees will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at a different location on Thursday, June 14. This meeting will start at 6 p.m. and will be held at the Clark County Commission Chambers, Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway, Las Vegas. The larger facility provides additional seating capacity for those interested in attending the meeting, in which trustees will discuss and take public comment on the draft CCSD Policy 5138, “Addressing the Rights and Needs of Students with Diverse Gender Identities or Expressions.”
