Agenda item 5.04 – Employee retention bonuses

Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees approved an agreement with all five employee bargaining units to provide eligible regular and full-time employees employed as of January 1, 2022 with a $1,000 COVID retention bonus. CCSD will also pay an additional $1,000 bonus to eligible regular and full-time employees who are employed on May 25, 2022, for a total of $2,000.

This retention bonus is one more way to support and thank employees and mitigate the economic impact of the COVID pandemic.

CCSD has allocated approximately $66 million in Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Funds to cover the expected costs of the retention bonuses.

Agenda Item 5.03 –  Revised Plan for Path Forward Program of Distance Education and Plan for the Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services for the 2021-2022 school year.

The Board was presented with the six-month revision to the Plan for Path Forward Program of Distance Education and Plan for the Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services.

The revisions are being made to incorporate feedback from the Nevada Department of Education as well as update additional information that has changed since the plan was initially approved in July. Revisions in the document do not indicate any changes for our schools or our community, and do not indicate a transition to distance education for students and schools currently participating in full-time face-to-face instruction.

Agenda item 5.01 and 5.02 – Approval of negotiated agreement between CCSD and Police Officers Association of the CCSD, and Police Administrators Association of the CCSD 

The CCSD Board of School Trustees voted 7-0 to approve the 2021-2023 Negotiated Agreement between CCSD and the Police Officers Association of the CCSD (POA) as well as  with the Police Administrators Association of the CCSD (PAA).

The new agreements for both bargaining units provide professional development opportunities, salary adjustments, increased health insurance contributions by the District and updated information regarding leave days.

Agenda item 3.14 – Employment agreement – Chief Information Officer

Trustees unanimously approved the hiring of Dr. Marilyn Delmont as CCSD’s Chief Information Officer.

Dr. Delmont has more than 30 years of information technology experience. She currently serves as the Chief Information Officer for the Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation.

The CIO position is responsible and accountable for planning, leading, managing, and supervising all information technology services and operations within CCSD.

The position will support the implementation of Focus: 2024, the District’s ambitious, five-year strategic plan. As part of its sound fiscal management priority, Focus: 2024 has among its goals to ensure operational effectiveness and efficiency of school and district facilities and operational resources to include information technology.
