Board appoints Jara as superintendent

17 May Board of School Trustees approve contract for Jesus F. Jara, Ed.D.

The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees approved the contract for the district’s new superintendent, Jesus F. Jara, Ed.D. at their May 17 board meeting.

Dr. Jara plans to officially join CCSD on June 19, 2018, and will spend time in July on a listening tour to meet with the Board of School Trustees, district employees, families, community leaders and others to learn first-hand about the needs of students, employees, families and the community.

Dr. Jara expressed excitement about having the opportunity to build on the district’s recent gains in graduation rates, test scores, Advanced Placement participation, and other indicators of student success.

“I am grateful for this very important opportunity, and I’m humbled and honored to be chosen as superintendent,” he said. “I’m looking forward to working with the district’s Trustees, educators, and families to build on the progress CCSD has already realized with a clear focus on student achievement.”

“We are excited to work with Dr. Jara to build on the successes we have already seen in the district,” said CCSD Board of School Trustees President Deanna L. Wright. “Dr. Jara has experience in a large, urban district and we are ready to welcome him to Clark County.”
