The annual Clark County School District (CCSD) survey is available online for parents/guardians, staff and students. All are encouraged to fill out the survey to provide information for CCSD and schools regarding progress toward the District’s priorities, as well as  further improve schools and increase family engagement. The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete and is a vital part of CCSD’s annual self-assessment. The surveys are available in both English and Spanish. Gordon McCaw STEAM Academy and Walter Bracken STEAM Academy elementary schools were named by the National Association of Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) as 2023 National ESEA Distinguished Schools. Both schools were recognized by the ESEA State Program Administrators (NAESPA) for exceptional student achievement. The award is determined by three categories: McCaw Elementary School was recognized as a Category 3 and Bracken Elementary School was recognized as a Category 1 school nationally for their hard work and dedication to school improvement. The Clark County School District (CCSD) encourages Rebel Red Friday on Friday, December 8, 2023, to support the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) after Wednesday’s tragedy.  The CCSD community is encouraged to wear UNLV gear or UNLV red on Friday. The Clark County School District’s (CCSD) choir students at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts and Mario C. and JoAnne Monaco Middle School’s band director, Yolandus Douglas, were featured on the holiday special, “Barry Manilow’s A Very Barry Christmas” at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. During the 2023-2024 school year, the Clark County School District has set its sights on reducing chronic absenteeism among students. As part of that effort, CCSD launched the Every Day Matters campaign to encourage daily attendance. The early results are encouraging as the District has reported a five percent increase in attendance through the first two months of the school year. One school in particular is ahead of the curve in addressing this challenge. Every year, CCSD celebrates Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) which inspires students to learn computer science, advocate for equity and celebrate the contributions of students, teachers and partners to the field. This year’s theme is “Impacts of Computing,” which refers to the overall effects computer science has on our lives. During CSEdWeek, schools will be participating in the “Hour of Code” which is an introduction to computer science through fun activities.

The Nevada Department of Education (NDE) and Governor Joe Lombardo announced the selection of Edrecka Wolridge, a Campus Security Monitor at Fertitta Middle School, as a nominee for the Recognizing Inspiring School Employees (RISE) award. Ms. Wolridge was one of two Nevada school district employees chosen by the Governor to represent the state based on their dedication to students and school communities. She is currently a student teacher earning her teaching certificate through the Paraprofessionals Pathway Program, an alternate licensure option supported by ESSER funding. “We are so thankful to have Ms. Wolridge as part of our Firebird family,” said…

Clark County School District (CCSD) Social Studies teachers have been provided with a new and updated curriculum to help engage with students with the help of ESSER III funding.
