The Clark County School District (CCSD) Librarians Day is celebrated on March 6, recognizing the importance of teacher-librarians in an effective educational program for students.  Teacher-librarians are information literacy and technology teachers, reading advocates, leaders and collaborators, and library program managers. They guide students to be critical users and producers of information and ideas. In an effort to highlight the power of a healthy school breakfast, the Clark County School District (CCSD) joins students and schools nationwide in celebrating National School Breakfast Week, March 4-8. This year’s theme, “Surf’s Up with School Breakfast,” empowers students to catch the wave of nourishment to set them up for success and learning. CCSD Food Service provides over 80,000 breakfasts a day to students at more than 350 schools. School breakfast is available to all CCSD students at no cost. Schools and students across the Clark County School District (CCSD) celebrate Nevada Reading Week, March 4-8. This year’s theme is “Embrace the Magic of Reading.” Schools engage students in fun reading activities, spirit days, and guest readers to promote learning through literacy.  Nevada Reading Week is a statewide initiative that was started in 1987 by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) for teachers and librarians to celebrate reading through shared thematic activities. School social workers help enhance the well-being and success of students by fostering a positive school environment. The Clark County School District (CCSD) celebrates Women’s History Month during the month of March. Women have played an impactful role in education. From teachers to a predominantly female-led Board of School Trustees to CCSD’s Interim Superintendent, Dr. Brenda Larsen-Mitchell, women in the District have inspired their communities and made historic changes. In honor of Youth Art Month, the Clark County School District (CCSD) celebrates students’ creativity through art with the guidance of CCSD educators and its programs.  CCSD students have had the opportunity to have their talents showcased at Harry Reid International Airport for travelers from all over the world to see! During March, the Clark County School District (CCSD) celebrates music education and the extraordinary talent of its students and staff for Music in Our Schools Month.  CCSD has been recognized as one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) for 24 consecutive years. This designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. A beloved tradition at East Career and Technical Academy returns for the first time in four years. This year, the school will once again host a Murder Mystery Party from Feb. 29 to Mar. 1. The show is a collaboration between students in different Magnet programs and extracurricular clubs which include theatre, marketing and hospitality, culinary arts, graphic design as well as construction technology.
