Clark County School District (CCSD) Transportation Director Jennifer Vobis has been named 2022 Transportation Director of the Year by the publication School Transportation News (STN). “As the largest owned and operated school bus fleet in the United States, we could not be more proud of Jennifer to be recognized for her outstanding efforts to transport our kids every day to and from school,” said Superintendent Jesus F. Clark County School District’s Raul P. Elizondo Elementary School and Mojave High School earned Purple Star School designations by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE). Schools that receive this prestigious honor are recognized for their commitment to supporting the unique educational and social-emotional needs of military-connected children. NDE announced the honorees in November to help celebrate the Month of the Military Family. These schools will receive a certificate and banner to signal their support in the educational transitions of military students and families. The Clark County School District (CCSD) unveiled and will soon begin operating the first electric school bus in Nevada. The bus is expected to begin transporting students in the coming weeks. “CCSD is continuously looking for ways to improve student outcomes inside and outside the classroom,” Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara said. “With the introduction of zero-emission vehicles to our fleet, the District will reduce pollution and improve air quality for generations of students and the community.” The Thomas Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley will serve students at Cimarron-Memorial High School, Edythe and Lloyd Katz Elementary School, and Howard Hollingsworth Elementary School. …
