Northwest Career and Technical Academy recognizes Kayla Wolf as a STAR student. Ms. Wolf balances a full-time job, family responsibilities, National Honor Society service, and the demands of a High Honors schedule. She will be graduating with the College and Career Diploma, the CTE Seal, the Seal of Biliteracy, and straight As throughout high school with a 5.2 GPA. Tam is an exemplary model student from Global. Arriving in the USA 2 years ago, Tam entered high school in quarantine distance education. Although unfamiliar with the traditions of US high schools, Tam quickly adapted to the expectations of learning via Google Meet and showcased his English language acquisition skills with proficiency. Cimarron-Memorial’s 2022 Star Graduate is Maya Dávila-Gonzalez. Maya is a salutatorian candidate who serves as vice-president of the school’s nationally-ranked robotics team. She is a talented musician, participating in both concert and marching bands all four years of high school. Maya has learned programming and is proficient in robot and systems design through her experience in the school’s automation program. The 2022 Star Grad from Indian Springs High School is Anthony DiGregorio. Anthony has the distinction of being one of the few seniors in Clark County who has been at the same school from Pre-K all the way through his senior year in high school. Anthony has fought through struggles throughout his life, but he has excelled in all of his efforts in school. He is graduating with a 4.075 grade point average, he was a three-sport athlete throughout his high school career. Anthony plans to attend Montana State University in the fall to study architecture. CCSD will be opening a brand new technical training academy this August. Technical Training Academy is a non-traditional high school focusing on career pathway training through CTE coursework, credentialing, and work-based learning opportunities. During the 2022-2023 school year, 11th graders at Technical Training Academy will participate in one or both of the following CTE programs of study: Building Trades in Construction Technology and Advanced Manufacturing. Both programs will include opportunities for students to earn industry-recognized credentials, embed business and entrepreneurial skills, and require students to participate in work-based learning through internships or other work experience. Spring Break is being held from April 11 – 18, 2022. There will be no school on April 18, 2022 to serve as the contingency day. School will be back in session on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. The Connection Line will be available to students from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily during Spring Break by calling (702) 799-6632 to speak with a caring counselor or social worker. This telephone hotline is staffed by volunteers who are CCSD social workers and school counselors for students who would like to talk with one of them during the Spring break. In partnership with Green Our Planet and sponsored by Bank of America, the Giant Student Farmers Market event will be on Friday, April 21, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Downtown Summerlin. Billed as the largest student market in the U.S., the event will feature more than 500 students from 50+ schools in Southern Nevada, students run the market themselves, selling school-grown fruits, herbs, veggies, and crafts to the public.
