Urban Leader Pathway to Administration

The Urban Leader Pathway for the career advancement of educators into administration seeks to improve teacher and leader quality in alignment with the Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan by investing in a diverse group of equity-centered, highly-effective educators through opportunities for tuition assistance, professional learning, mentoring, and career advancement to support the current needs of our students. 

The Urban Leader Pathway will provide selected cohort participants: 

  • Tuition assistance toward a Master of Education in Educational Policy and Leadership (EPL) program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). 
  • Sustained mentoring support from highly-effective Clark County School District (CCSD) principals. ● Upon completion of EPL master’s degree program, entry into the CCSD Aspiring School Administrator Pool (ASAP) program. 

 

Urban Leader cohort participants will commit to: 

  • Maintaining continuous employment with CCSD for three years. 
  • Successfully completing all coursework for the EPL master’s degree program at UNLV. ● Obtaining administrative licensing through the Nevada Department of Education. ● Successfully completing the CCSD ASAP program. 
  • Serving in an administrative position at an urban at-risk school one year after completion of the master’s degree and the CCSD ASAP program.
