Urban Leader Pathway to Administration

The Urban Leader Pathway for the career advancement of educators into administration seeks to improve teacher and leader quality in alignment with the Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan by investing in a diverse group of equity-centered, highly-effective educators through opportunities for tuition assistance, professional learning, mentoring, and career advancement to support the current needs of our students. 

The Urban Leader Pathway will provide selected cohort participants: 

  • Tuition assistance toward a Master of Education in Educational Policy and Leadership (EPL) program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). 
  • Sustained mentoring support from highly-effective Clark County School District (CCSD) principals. Upon completion of EPL master’s degree program, entry into the CCSD Aspiring School Administrator Pool (ASAP) program. 

 

Urban Leader cohort participants will commit to: 

  • Maintaining continuous employment with CCSD for three years. 
  • Successfully completing all coursework for the EPL master’s degree program at UNLV. Obtaining administrative licensing through the Nevada Department of Education. Successfully completing the CCSD ASAP program. 
  • Serving in an administrative position at an urban at-risk school one year after completion of the master’s degree and the CCSD ASAP program.
