Agenda Item 3.01 – Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan Update — Algebra I and Geometry Participation in Middle School

The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees received a presentation on advanced mathematics participation by middle school students. The presentation is part of the Board’s monitoring of progress toward goals outlined in CCSD’s five-year strategic plan. Data shows a steady increase in the percentage of middle school students enrolled in Algebra I or Geometry. Additionally, staff outlined plans to improve Tier I instruction for the courses and enhance the use of course enrollment guides to properly place students in mathematics courses.

Agenda Item 3.02 – Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan Update — Chronic Absenteeism

The Board received a presentation on chronic absenteeism in regard to objectives outlined in the District’s five-year strategic plan. A student is considered chronically absent if they miss ten percent or more of the days they are enrolled during an academic year.

The report highlighted the decrease in the percentage of students considered chronically absent during the first semester. Staff highlighted the improvement in support offered to schools and the increased focus on home visits to support students at risk of being chronically absent.
