Clark County School District (CCSD) families are invited to attend the next Family Academy event on April 6, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Western High School, 4601 W. Bonanza Rd. Workshops focused on summer learning at-home will be available to families. Participants will receive the resources and tools to support their student. Parents/guardians can choose to attend the adult session, or the session for families learning together. Court is in session at West Career and Technical Academy (CTA), where the school’s mock trial team recently won the 2024 Nevada High School Mock Trial Competition. ‘West CTA Team Black’ beat out seven other teams from across Nevada to win the state championship, put on by the State Bar of Nevada and is now eying a win at the National High School Mock Trial Championship. CCSD schools and two educators receive recognition from Governor’s Office of Science, Innovation and Technology  Clark County School District (CCSD) STEM programs and educators continue to lead the state in quality STEM curriculum. Brinley Nicole Hughes has been a student of Virgin Valley High School for the last four years. She has worked hard to graduate with the class of 2024. Brinley has persevered through many health battles and has overcome other trials during her time with us. She has the most incredible smile and tries to maintain a positive attitude about things. Rebecca is a remarkable student. She is ranked number two in our high school while taking the most rigorous classes available to her but her academic skill is not the only impressive thing about her. Rebecca was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. As a result of this illness, she has spent many years on bed rest. Her entire middle school years were spent doing classwork from her bed because she was too ill and in too much pain to move, however, this didn’t stop her from excelling academically. She has never used her illness as an excuse and has always exceeded…
