CCSD school principal earns national ‘Magnet Schools of America’ recognition

West CTA principal wins Regional Principal of the Year

The Clark County School District (CCSD) is proud to announce West Career and Technical Academy (CTA) Principal Amy Dockter-Rozar has been selected as Regional Principal of the Year by Magnet Schools of America (MSA). Principal Dockter-Rozar has been principal at West CTA since 2013.

“We are so proud of Principal Dockter-Rozar and the community she leads at West Career and Technical Academy,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Brenda Larsen-Mitchell. “This award reflects the time, effort, and enthusiasm she pours into her school community to build a rigorous Magnet program that challenges students and prepares them for future success.”

Each year, MSA recognizes principals across the country by region for the noteworthy contributions made to their profession and excellence in the following areas:

  • Promoting equity and diversity among students and staff within their Magnet school
  • Providing equitable academic opportunities for all students
  • Leadership implementing and sustaining an innovative Magnet program
  • Evidence of leadership within the school district and the Magnet community

Principal Dockter-Rozar welcomes a collaborative learning community between stakeholders. She has taken steps to support students with free summer enrichment opportunities and after-school test preparation. Through numerous efforts, student enrollments at West CTA in both Advanced Placement and dual enrollment have increased.

“I’m honored to represent the students and staff at West Career and Technical Academy,” said Principal Dockter-Rozar. “We work hard to ensure our students receive access to the best Magnet School education. I’m thankful for our entire school community for allowing me to serve them over the past 10 years.”

Under her leadership, West CTA provides professional development opportunities for staff as it relates to the Magnet theme, student learning and diversity.

Principal Dockter-Rozar will be recognized at an awards ceremony at MSA’s National Conference in New York City in April 2024. She is also eligible to be selected as the National Magnet School Principal of the Year.
