CCSD schools and two educators receive recognition from Governor’s Office of Science, Innovation and Technology Clark County School District (CCSD) STEM programs and educators continue to lead the state in quality STEM curriculum. Eight CCSD schools and two educators were recognized this year for leading STEM initiatives with designations made by the Governor’s Office of Science, Innovation and Technology (OSIT). Alfred Rosales is a quiet force that appears to be consistently relaxed, yet you know his mind is constantly running due to the excellence that he produces. He has a responsible character, stellar leadership skills, and maturity when interacting with peers. He learns significantly challenging things with ease, and handles several advanced tasks without stumbling, nor fretting and most importantly, never giving up. Brinley Nicole Hughes has been a student of Virgin Valley High School for the last four years. She has worked hard to graduate with the class of 2024. Brinley has persevered through many health battles and has overcome other trials during her time with us. She has the most incredible smile and tries to maintain a positive attitude about things. Rebecca is a remarkable student. She is ranked number two in our high school while taking the most rigorous classes available to her but her academic skill is not the only impressive thing about her. Rebecca was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. As a result of this illness, she has spent many years on bed rest. Her entire middle school years were spent doing classwork from her bed because she was too ill and in too much pain to move, however, this didn’t stop her from excelling academically. She has never used her illness as an excuse and has always exceeded…
CSN High School West is proud to announce Jana Alnajjar as the 2024 Star Graduate! Jana is the student council president and journalist for the school newspaper. She’s incredibly hard-working academically, on track to complete her associate’s degree before high school graduation, and she’s involved in all campus activities. She’s a friend to all students at our school and beloved by our staff. Jana has her choice of several top universities, including Princeton University, University of Oregon, and University of Hawaii, among others. She plans to study politics and law, and we have no doubt she will do just that.…
Nevada Moves Day is a statewide celebration of walking, biking and rolling to school. All students, school staff and families are encouraged to get physically active to commemorate the day on March 20. This event highlights the benefits, opportunities and barriers around safe walking and biking to and from school. These types of physical activities before school help get students’ brains supplied with oxygen and ready to learn. Clark High School is proud to present Jennifer Hsu as our 2024 Star Graduate. Jennifer has achieved unparalleled academic success and has earned a weighted GPA of 4.95 in Clark’s AMSAT Program. She holds the title of AP Scholar with Distinction, earning 5 5’s and 6 4’s on various AP exams. Jennifer is attending Brown University in the fall where she will matriculate into their BS/MD program with the eventual goal of being a doctor.
