The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees elected their officers for the 2023 calendar year during a work session public meeting today. The Board selected Trustee Evelyn Garcia Morales to serve as president, Trustee Lola Brooks to serve as vice president, and Trustee Irene Bustamante Adams to serve as clerk. The Clark County School District offers juniors and seniors looking for a challenge the opportunity to earn up to 48 college credits before graduation through CSN High School. CSN High School is a dual credit program designed to provide a smooth transition from high school to college. CSN High School provides a combination of high school and college credits through an agreement between CCSD and the College of Southern Nevada (CSN). There is a CSN High School location on all three CSN main campuses- Henderson, North Las Vegas, and West Charleston. CCSD pays for up to 12 credits every semester. …

The Clark County School District Police Department (CCSDPD) Traffic Unit has received grant funding from the Joining Forces grant through the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety that will help educate drivers and pedestrians to help prevent crashes and save lives. The CCSDPD’s Traffic Unit’s mission is to increase police visibility in and around schools and school zones. Additionally, CCSD police officers work to educate drivers and pedestrians about the importance of traffic safety. The annual Districtwide Survey for parents/guardians, students, and staff will be open until December 16, 2022. The survey is intended to provide information for Clark County School District (CCSD) and schools regarding progress toward CCSD priorities and to comply with the requirements of the Board of School Trustees and the Nevada Department of Education. “While we recognize the need for improved educational outcomes across Nevada, these adult-centered distractions continue to harm our children. Should communities choose to secede from the Clark County School District, they will increase taxpayer costs by expanding government bureaucracies. Dismantling the economies of scale achieved by CCSD will raise the costs of educating all children and further exacerbate the inequities impacting our neediest children and violate their rights. If anything is to change, Nevada must provide more funding and academic rigor to improve educational outcomes.
