The Clark County School District (CCSD) once again earned national recognition for its Magnet programs, with 35 programs taking honors from Magnet Schools of America (MSA) for the 2023-24 school year. This tops the District’s 29 programs MSA recognized for the 2022-23 school year. The national association for Magnet and theme-based schools selected 35 CCSD programs at 34 schools as merit recipients. Elementary students are encouraged to enter the annual Vegas PBS KIDS Writers Contest. All entries must be submitted by Friday, March 8, 2024 at 5 p.m. The writing contest encourages students in grades K-5 to celebrate creativity and build literacy skills by writing and illustrating their own stories. The Clark County School District (CCSD) is seeing promising signs of pandemic recovery through investments supported by $777 million in funding from the American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Act (ARP ESSER III). As of October 2023, CCSD has used or committed 84 percent of the funds received. From January 15 to 20, Clark County School District (CCSD) students will participate in activities that contribute to creating a more peaceful world in celebration of Peace Week.  Peace Week focuses on helping educators, students and the community to promote a culture of peace in Nevada and around the world. Individuals work on understanding and managing conflict in their own lives.  CCSD schools are encouraged to share their Peace Week activities on social media using #CCSDPeaceWeek! 

A new version of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available for 2024-25 applicants. The Federal Student Aid Office, part of the U.S. Department of Education, announced the updated form will help expand eligibility for students seeking financial assistance, as well as a streamlined user experience. Officials estimate that applicants may answer as few as 18 questions, which could take less than 10 minutes to complete. The Federal Student Aid Office estimates more than 600,000 new students from low-income backgrounds may be eligible to receive Federal Pell Grants due to the updates to student aid calculations.…
