Tony Alamo was born June 4, 1941 in Isabela de Sagua, Cuba before arriving in Miami in 1961.   In 1963, he married his wife Maria and moved to Nevada in 1974, where he became a U.S. citizen. Mr. Alamo’s college education and U.S. citizenship was earned entirely through his own effort. He is a passionate advocate of freedom, hard work, integrity and education. Raul P. Elizondo, Jr. was born on July 21, 1967, in Mesa, Arizona. He was raised in Henderson, Nevada and attended Basic High School, where he was a member of the 1984 State Championship wrestling team. His mother, Ann, was a teacher at the Clark County School District. Officer Elizondo became a North Las Vegas police officer on March 13, 1992, and was recognized for his dedicated service within two years by the Chief of Police. He received the highest award possible from the North Las Vegas Police Association and was honored as the 1994 Police Office of the Year. …

This event serves as a reminder for drivers to keep an eye out for students walking and rolling to school. In an effort to keep our southern Nevada community informed about the status of negotiations with CCEA, the local teachers union, the following is the latest update between the parties. On Friday, the Clark County School District (CCSD) submitted its latest offer to the Clark County Education Association (CCEA). This offer included a first-year salary increase of 9% across the board, and our year two offer was increased to 3.3%. If the estimated SB 231 funds are applied, the second-year increase would be 8.4%, bringing the total CCSD offer to a 17.4% salary increase over the biennium. Arturo B. Cambeiro was born on April 19, 1932, in Havana, Cuba, where he received a bachelor’s degree in science and architecture. When he was 29 years old, Mr. Cambeiro and his family immigrated to the United States. They did not have very much and did not know the language. The Cambeiro family lived in Miami and Los Angeles before landing in Las Vegas, where Mr. Cambeiro became Nevada’s first licensed Hispanic architect. Aldeane Comito Ries’s dedication will always be remembered in the Clark County School District (CCSD). She dedicated her professional life to our school district and built a legacy with decades of service to various of our schools.  In her 38 years of service as an educator, Aldeane Comito Ries worked in every educational level beginning in elementary school and then moving to the junior high and high school level. Money to be invested in high-quality Pre-K instruction The Clark County School District (CCSD) was selected by the Governor’s Office and the Nevada Department of Education as a recipient of the Early Childhood Innovative Literacy Program grant. The competitive grant awarded the District $10,009,738 to go towards improving literacy and readiness for children under six years of age, as well as those that serve areas with a higher proportion of children in need. Reynaldo Martinez was born in Chama, New Mexico, in 1937. He was raised in Henderson, Nevada and was a student at Basic High School in 1957. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Arizona State University in 1961. Before he started his teaching career, he served in the United States Naval Reserve. Mr. Martinez began his teaching career at Western High School. He was named Outstanding Teacher in Clark County in 1966.
