The Clark County School District (CCSD) celebrates Women’s History Month during the month of March. Women have played an impactful role in education. From teachers to a predominantly female-led Board of School Trustees to CCSD’s Interim Superintendent, Dr. Brenda Larsen-Mitchell, women in the District have inspired their communities and made historic changes. In honor of Youth Art Month, the Clark County School District (CCSD) celebrates students’ creativity through art with the guidance of CCSD educators and its programs.  CCSD students have had the opportunity to have their talents showcased at Harry Reid International Airport for travelers from all over the world to see! During March, the Clark County School District (CCSD) celebrates music education and the extraordinary talent of its students and staff for Music in Our Schools Month.  CCSD has been recognized as one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) for 24 consecutive years. This designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. A beloved tradition at East Career and Technical Academy returns for the first time in four years. This year, the school will once again host a Murder Mystery Party from Feb. 29 to Mar. 1. The show is a collaboration between students in different Magnet programs and extracurricular clubs which include theatre, marketing and hospitality, culinary arts, graphic design as well as construction technology. The Clark County School District (CCSD) is celebrating Black History Month by sharing the inspiring stories of CCSD’s African-American namesakes who were pioneers in their profession and some of the District’s firsts in education.  Dr. Carolyn S. Reedom began her tenure in the Clark County School District (CCSD) in 1970, serving students and families as a teacher, dean of students, high school assistant principal, principal and assistant superintendent. She was the first female and African-American president of the Nevada Association of School Administrators. She led several initiatives to help secure school funding, receive national recognition and successfully implement school policies.…

After the dismissal bell rings at Lomie G. Heard Elementary School every Tuesday and Wednesday, the cafeteria transforms into the headquarters for an after-school drone club. Heard Elementary School, a Clark County School District (CCSD) Magnet School, piloted the unique drone club for fourth and fifth grade students last year, and it’s really taken off. “We get to fly drones and have some fun,” said fourth-grader Marysel Alano. “I’m hoping it gets bigger and more people join.” The club has a total of 18 students working in six teams.
