Desert Rose Adult School is pleased to select Merveille Kinkela Edoko as our STAR student! Merveille is a first generation immigrant from the Congo. Merveille spoke Lingala and French in the Congo and has diligently learned English in the three years she has been in the United States. With a huge smile on her face she said she is very happy and proud of herself for completing her high school diploma! Merveille said her family moved to the United States in search of more opportunities! Merveille plans to attend CSN and begin a career in healthcare!

Iain is a top student at our school in more than academics and computer science. He has earned state championships in multiple FFA events and just won a bronze at the national level with his speech on robotics in agriculture. He has been a member of the Southern Utah University Honor Band and was part of our winning Varsity Quiz team. Desert Rose is nominating Francisco Guzman as the 2023 Star Graduate from Desert Rose HS. Amrita will be graduating this Fall with her Associate of Science Degree from the College of Southern Nevada in addition to the College and Career Ready Diploma. Amrita’s focus on education runs a very close second to her commitment to her family. She has had a hard path to learning resilience and strength, as her mom tragically died from cancer several years ago after a long battle, during which time, Amrita was one of her primary caregivers. When Jayden Gude’s mother passed away during his freshman year, his world was shaken. Overwhelmed with grief, he missed half of his 10th-grade year and struggled to put his life back together. Jayden left California for Las Vegas and entered Del Sol Academy as a credit-deficient junior searching for a path forward.
