CCSD celebrates Fire Prevention Week

CCSD celebrates Fire Prevention Week

The Clark County School District (CCSD) recognizes Fire Prevention Week from October 8-14 to educate children, adults and teachers on how to stay safe in case of a fire.

CCSD offers students the opportunity to get a jumpstart on preparing for a career in firefighting through the Fire Science Program at Bonanza High School. The program builds on the principles of fire protection, chemistry and prevention techniques. Students also have a chance to work with equipment including hoses and ladders. The program is run in conjunction with the College of Southern Nevada for students to earn both high school and college credits. To learn more about the program, view Bonanza’s course catalog here. The National Fire Protection Association provides tips and resources for fire safety education including planning an escape route, testing smoke alarms and practicing home fire drills. More information can be found online here.
