At the beginning of the school year, students at Advanced Technologies Academy (A-TECH) were presented with a unique question – how could our school survive a zombie apocalypse? It may sound like the plot for a blockbuster movie or popular television show, but in reality, it was an academic assignment intended to develop students’ problem-solving skills. LAS VEGAS – Agenda Item 3.01 – Compliance Monitoring Update The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees accepted the compliance monitoring update related to the corrective action plan requested by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE). CCSD provided the initial corrective action plan to NDE on December 27, 2024. On December 31, 2024, a request was received from the Superintendent of Public Instruction for additional specificity in the plan. CCSD students will participate in activities that contribute to creating a more peaceful world in celebration of Peace Week from January 20-25.  Peace Week focuses on helping educators, students and the community to promote a culture of peace in Nevada and around the world. Individuals work on understanding and managing conflict in their own lives.  CCSD schools are encouraged to share their Peace Week activities on social media using #CCSDPeaceWeek! 

The Clark County School District (CCSD) schools and offices will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  Classes will resume and offices will reopen on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

Clark County School District (CCSD) Magnet programs continue to earn national praise for providing students access to academic opportunities. 41 CCSD programs earned top honors from Magnet Schools of America (MSA) for the 2024–2025 school year. This tops the District’s 35 programs recognized for the 2023–2024 school year. The Magnet and theme-based schools association recognized 41 CCSD programs across 40 schools for their excellence. LAS VEGAS – Agenda Item 3.01 – Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan Update – Graduation Rates The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees accepted a report on graduation rates related to the District’s strategic plan. The Class of 2024 represented the largest number of graduating students in CCSD in six years. Additionally, for the second consecutive year, CCSD noted an increase in graduates earning the College and Career Ready Diploma.  The four-year high school graduation rate is measured on the Nevada School Performance Framework and accounts for 25 of 30 possible points. The Clark County School District (CCSD) honored CCSD Police Department Officer Andrew Craft on the anniversary of his passing with the presentation of a memorial bench. The bench will be located at the Region 1 Service Center, where Officer Craft was last assigned as a patrol officer. Officer Craft passed away after a medical episode while on duty on January 10, 2024. The 37-year-old officer had been with CCSD Police since 2018.

The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees elected their officers for the 2025 calendar year during a work session public meeting Wednesday. The Board elected Trustee Irene Bustamante Adams as President, Trustee Brenda Zamora as Vice President, and Trustee Tameka Henry as Clerk.
