Clark County School District (CCSD) will celebrate American Education Week Nov. 16 through 20, highlighting the hard work and accomplishments of students and staff. American Education Week is a nationally celebrated observance to honor public education and those who make a difference every day in the lives of young people.

Since mid-October, the Taskforce Initiative for Educator Safety and Screening (T.I.E.S.) has been working with several districts across the State of Nevada to provide free testing and symptoms monitoring for COVID-19. The goal of T.I.E.S. is to prevent the introduction and spread of COVID-19 in Nevada’s public schools. The Nevada Department of Education (NDE) has partnered with THT Health, who created the T.I.E.S. program for Clark County School District (CCSD) and expanded it Statewide. The Clark County School District (CCSD) is asking for nominations for individuals interested in participating in the Superintendent’s Parent and Community Advisory Committee.  Up to 15 committee members will be chosen to serve and support the work of CCSD as part of the committee. The Clark County School District (CCSD) will be closed Nov. 26 and 27 in observance of Thanksgiving and Family Day. There is no school for students on Nov. 25, 26 and 27 and meal distribution sites will be closed these days as well. Distance education and meal distribution will return on Monday, November 30.

October 1 Update This is to provide you with an update regarding the recent data security incident at CCSD, first announced on Aug. 27, 2020. As you may be aware, CCSD was the victim of a criminal ransomware attack.  Upon learning of this attack, CCSD immediately notified law enforcement and began an investigation to determine the full nature and scope of this incident, including whether any CCSD data was impacted. The Clark County School District (CCSD) will observe Week of Respect during the first week of October. Governor Sisolak has proclaimed October 5- 9, 2020, as the “Week of Respect.” CCSD developed the online Canvas Week of Respect 2020-2021 Guide in an effort to support schools in implementing activities that support a safe and respectful learning environment. The deadline to nominate a teacher for the Heart of Education Awards is fast approaching: Nomination forms can be submitted online at theheartofeducation.org with an extended nomination period until Friday, February 12, 2021. Once a nomination has been submitted, each nominated teacher will receive an email notification to complete a separate online application. Teachers will be asked to write a 500-word-or-less essay describing how they have gone above and beyond to support their students.
