The Clark County School District (CCSD) Police Department (CCSDPD) along with our community and the state of Nevada are commemorating the life and service of Officer Andrew Craft, whose work and dedication have profoundly impacted young lives.
“Officer Craft was a dedicated member of the CCSD Police Department who was committed to protecting students and employees throughout the community,” CCSD Police Chief Mike Blackeye said. “The entire department is here to support his family, and our officers are grateful for the community support over the past few days.”
Officer Craft passed away after a medical episode while on duty on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. The 37-year-old officer had been with the department since 2018. Officer Craft worked as a patrol officer and recently earned his motor officer certification. He previously served as a Trooper with the Nevada State Police. Officer Craft is survived by his father, brother and 16-year-old son.
The Injured Police Officers Fund (IPOF) hosted a public ceremony for the community and law enforcement at Legacy High School this week in remembrance of Officer Craft.
CCSDPD will hold a public memorial on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Central Church at 10 a.m. Details on the procession for Officer Craft to Central Church, located at 1001 New Beginnings Dr, Henderson, NV 89011, are being finalized and will be provided at a later date.
“The Clark County School District is devastated by the sudden loss of Officer Craft,” said CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara. “Our Officers work day in and day out to keep our schools safe, and a loss to the department is a loss for the entire District. Our hearts and prayers are with the CCSD Police Department Force and Officer Craft’s loved ones during this difficult time.”
