The Clark County School District (CCSD) thanks its approximately 1,300 bus drivers for their tireless efforts to transport more than 123,000 students to and from school daily.

On this School Bus Drivers Day, the District recognizes Suzie Fly for her 45 years of service as a CCSD bus driver.

In 1979, Fly, then 27, was hired as a bus driver in Moapa Valley. In 2024, she remains behind the wheel as a special education bus driver in the rural community, and she has no plans to stop.

“I love my job. I love what I do. Love the kids,” Fly said.

Fly has driven thousands of students in all grade levels and is well-known in her community.

“‘You drove me, you drove my daughter. Now, you’re driving my granddaughter.’ So, I’m driving three generations out here,” Fly said while recalling a conversation with a community member.

Fly currently sits atop the bus driver seniority list with the District.

After driving buses for over forty years, she is proud of her role in educating generations of students.

“It’s pretty astounding and I’m pretty proud that I did this and accomplished this,” Fly said.
