Vegas PBS KIDS Writers Contest open to K-5 students

Vegas PBS KIDS Writers Contest open to K-5 students

Does your child have a love for words? Do they have a story they want to tell? It’s time to put the pen to paper and let their creativity shine!

Elementary students are encouraged to enter the annual Vegas PBS KIDS Writers Contest. All entries must be submitted by Friday, March 8, 2024 at 5 p.m.

The writing contest encourages students in grades K-5 to celebrate creativity and build literacy skills by writing and illustrating their own stories. The contest is sponsored by local philanthropist Janice Allen, who grew up with a passion for writing. She was one of the first reporters of the Las Vegas Review-Journal and a founding member of The Smith Center for the Performing Arts.

Judges will select winners in Spring 2024 to receive a prize pack including a hardcover version of their story, autographed books and a custom backpack filled with additional reading and writing resources.

Students can submit their stories and entry forms via email to jrussell@vegaspbs.org, PDF files are strongly preferred. Or, mailed or hand-delivered with an official entry form signed by a parent/guardian to:
