09 Jul Vote by July 10 for Cimarron-Memorial students in Lenovo app competition
Two students from Cimarron-Memorial High School are among a select group of winners of the 2018 Lenovo Scholar Network App Competition. Ilyssa McBride and Candice Johnson created the Guardian Defense app, which allows people to load their personal information and emergency contacts in case of a catastrophic event or horrific tragedy by pressing one button to alert their family. The contest selects 10 winners nationally. McBride and Johnson, both of whom are graduates of the MERIT (Manufacturing, Engineering, Robotics, and Information Technology) Academy, will split a cash prize of $2,500 and attend the NAF Next Conference in Washington, D.C. in July. NAF is a national network of education, business and community leaders who work together to ensure high school students are college, career and future ready.
