05 May Trustee All-Star Teacher

Seven outstanding educators, selected by members of the Board of Trustees, are being honored as “All-Star Teachers” who “hit it out of the park” in terms of their teaching skills. Each of the seven teachers will be highlighted on CCSD.net this week — during Teacher Appreciation Week — and will receive free tickets to Las Vegas 51s games, plus 50 full-color specially-designed “baseball cards” that they can hand out to their students, families and friends.

Congratulations to All-Star Teacher Becky Molloy, nominated by Trustee Chris Garvey.

Becky Molloy teaches 5th grade at Rhodes Elementary School and has been with CCSD for 23 years. A native of Granite City, Illinois, she said reading and walking are among her hobbies and interests. Rhodes E.S. Principal Rod Knowles said, “I have had the pleasure to know and work with Ms. Molloy over the past twenty years as a colleague and employee. Ms. Molloy has always led by example, setting the bar high so that every student meets her expectations. At the root of Ms. Molloy’s success is her ability to build nurturing relationships with students and parents, so that they can seize opportunities that are presented. Many students have crossed her path in her years of teaching that have allowed her to make personal connections beyond the classroom doors. Recently, she opened her fifth grade classroom door to a new student who has never been to school and has lacked many experiences that many take for granted. Ms. Molloy quickly rallied teachers, administration, parents and volunteers to implement a plan to help this young lady gain the skills she needed to be successful academically and socially. Ms. Molloy’s positive influence has promoted growth for all stakeholders as well as myself.”
