Targeting Title I dollars to make greatest impact for children with greatest needs, schools with most challenges

The Clark County School District is adjusting the Title I formula for the 2019-20 school year to target these federal resources to the schools that serve the most vulnerable children.

The reallocation methodology for school strategic budgets will provide Title I dollars to schools with a free-and-reduced-price lunch (FRL) percentage of 60 percent or higher instead of the existing threshold of 40 percent or more.

Most major urban school districts allocate Title I dollars to schools that have at least 75 percent students utilizing FRL.

CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara wants to direct resources to children with the greatest needs and schools in areas that are historically underserved and under resourced.
