16 Sep Surgeon General visits Tate Elementary School to promote walking

As reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy visited Tate Elementary School on Sept. 15 as part of his national campaign to promote walking. According to the R-J, “Children who don’t get enough physical activity increase their risk of chronic diseases and obesity. Surveys have found that the most commonly reported barrier for walking to school was distance, followed by traffic-related dangers.” Pictured is CCSD Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky talking with the surgeon general.
