22 Sep Superintendent’s Mailbag – Full day kindergarten
Each week, the Clark County School District (CCSD) responds to some of the emails it receives from district employees, parents or community members. This week, the district responds to a parent inquiry about the full day kindergarten program.
A parent asked, “Why don’t all elementary schools have full day kindergarten?”
Full day kindergartens are funded by grants issued by the Nevada Legislature. There are more than 200 elementary schools in Clark County School District and not every school has received funding for a full day kindergarten program. Since the rollout of the grant, CCSD selected schools with the highest percentage of Free and Reduced Lunch students to fund. The final list of schools that will be funded for the next school year will be released later next year.
