09 Sep Superintendent’s Mailbag – Crossing guards and crosswalks

Each week, the Clark County School District (CCSD) responds to some of the emails it receives from district employees, parents or community members. This week, the district responds to a parent inquiry about the placement of crosswalks and crossing guards.

“Now that school has started, I am concerned about my child walking to her new middle school as she does not qualify for bus transportation. I think there should be a crosswalk at a different location than the existing one and there should be crossing guards there as well. Who do I talk with about getting these in place?”

The placement of cross walks and traffic signals is up to each municipality rather than the school district. The municipalities also provide crossing guards for each elementary school, but not for middle and high schools. Please contact your specific municipality to share your concerns with them.
