Superintendent Jara announces new Chief Communications and Government Relations Officer

Clark County School District (CCSD) Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara announced the selection of Maria Marinch as CCSD’s Chief Communications and Government Relations Officer.

“Our core business is student success and being open and honest with the community is a priority,” said Jara. “It’s only with the help of the community that we will be able to make sure that CCSD is #1 for kids and providing all children with a rich and rigorous education. This position will work to provide the public with open and honest information to include parents, employees, students, elected officials as well as our business and community partners.”

Marinch currently serves as College of Southern Nevada’s (CSN) Executive Director of Inclusive Learning and Engagement. Additionally, she has served as CSN’s Executive Director of Community Relations, Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, Director of Diversity – Chief Diversity Officer.

She has also worked as an instructor for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in the Foreign Languages Department and Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies. Marinch also has experience in public relations in the private
sector as well as with a local municipality working with elected officials. In addition, she is fluent in English and Spanish.

The position will work to lead the implementation of Focus: 2024, the district’s ambitious, five-year strategic plan. Focus: 2024 sets the goal of improving perception of the District, increasing strategic media partnerships to celebrate student and employee success as well as increasing positive media presence of CCSD in the United States.

“Education is a people business, and Focus: 2024 places a strong emphasis on building partnerships with the community we serve,” said Jara. “I look forward to working with Ms. Marinch as we work toward making CCSD a national model by 2024.”

This is an existing position that has been vacated and will not increase CCSD’s general operating budget.
