Clark County School District (CCSD) Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara today announced the appointment of long-time educator and current CCSD Region 1 Superintendent Dr. Dustin Mancl as the Chief Academic Officer, who will replace current Chief Academic Officer Dr. Karla Loria. Loria was recently announced as the Superintendent of the Adams County School District 14 in Colorado.
“I would like to congratulate Dr. Karla Loria for her tremendous accomplishment in becoming Superintendent for the Adams County School District 14,” said CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara. “She has played a crucial role in ensuring that students receive a high level of education even during a pandemic. Additionally, I am pleased to appoint Dr. Dustin Mancl as Chief Academic Officer. He has 20 years with CCSD and in this position, he will focus on developing systems and structures to ensure high-quality, standards-based instruction for all of our students.”
Dr. Mancl has been an educator with CCSD since 2001 as a teacher, special education facilitator, assistant principal, principal and most recently has served as Region 1 Superintendent.
“I am extremely proud to work alongside such an amazing team of instructional leaders,” Dr. Jara added. “Along with these promotions comes added diversity and distinct expertise. These exceptional additions to our team will strengthen and build upon the great work being done in Teaching and Learning to provide differentiated support to schools and improve student achievement.”

Dr. Samuel Scavella – Selected as the Assistant Superintendent in the College, Career, Equity, and School Choice Unit to lead CCSD’s Equity and Diversity Department
