Prince Kuumba has been an outstanding student-athlete at Sierra Vista High School for four years. Though Prince has been able to accomplish great things at school, Prince’s road has never been easy. Just a few short years ago, Prince lost both his uncle and his step-father within a month of each other. Rather than give up on life, Prince persevered and worked even harder. He knew that his mother and his seven siblings needed him, and that became his motivation to be great.

To help reach his goals, Prince joined JROTC and has been promoted several times over his three years in the program. He has earned a 3.0 GPA and has been offered a track and field scholarship to Redlands College in California. Prince will graduate in the top third of his very competitive class, and we are so very proud of him.

Prince was recently acknowledged for his fortitude at the State of the Schools address, where Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara spoke of Prince’s accomplishments and his ability to beat the odds. Prince is a dedicated student-athlete, playing varsity basketball and running track for Vista.
