Star Grad – Sunrise Mountain High School
Kevin Pareja is one of our best and brightest students here at Sunrise Mountain High School. He is the valedictorian candidate, with a weighted GPA of 5.177. He has taken AP and Honors courses all four years of his time in high school. During Kevin’s time at SMHS, he has been an active member of the school’s Ballet Folklorico dance team, National Honor Society, SkillsUSA, Student Organization of Latinos, and SMHS student council, and is currently the SMHS Student Body President. Kevin is also on the SMHS men’s volleyball and cross country teams. Outside of school, Kevin works with his mom and is involved with Trio/Upward Bound and Groupo Folklorico Libertad. Kevin has been accepted into several universities for next year, including MIT, UCSD, and UNM. He shared that his success stems from the support of his mom and the example of his brother. He stated that he loves the staff and faculty at Sunrise Mountain, and appreciates their honesty and relatability. Kevin would like to attend MIT and major in computer science and engineering with an emphasis on aerospace engineering, with a goal of working for NASA.
