Boulder City High School is delighted to select Kaylynn Diebold as our Star Graduate. She is an amazing young woman who is an accomplished student, blind rights advocate and positive role model. Kaylynn naturally displays self assurance, proficiency and passion for learning. Kaylynn has excelled from taking special education classes as recent as the 9th grade into taking grade level, honors and dual enrollment classes. Kaylynn is legally blind, and she excels in managing accessibility to accommodate her visual needs and advocating for the Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation. She recently spent a week in Carson City speaking with state legislators about blind individuals’ rights and sharing her experiences of being a blind person in a mostly sighted world. She discussed how the foundation assisted with her independence and passionately advocated for an issue about traffic laws and keeping blind people safe. She’s still in contact with a senator who is working diligently with her to fix this issue. She has an upbeat personality, positive outlook and a genuine sincerity that is unique for high school students. Kaylynn will attend Lynn University in the fall to pursue a master’s degree in clinical social work.
