When Christian Jattan was in eighth grade, his mother was diagnosed with a debilitating disease that eventually left her paralyzed. For two years, Christian and his father took on the responsibility of caring for her. Despite these challenges, Christian enrolled at Las Vegas Academy (LVA) as a theater student, a passion he had since childhood. Balancing advanced coursework, theater conservatory duties, and caregiving, Christian discovered that staying busy kept him focused.
Over the course of his four years in high school, Christian’s drive evolved. Initially, he focused on being valedictorian and achieving the highest academic honors. However, as he progressed, he came to enjoy the journey and celebrate his many accomplishments.
Christian’s teachers consistently praise his character. Fran Curcio shares, “Christian Jattan is not only a highly gifted, driven student, but he is also so much fun. He enters the classroom with a smile on his face, participates eagerly, and offers help and advice to his peers. Christian makes each space he occupies lighter, blending academic drive with a genuine commitment to being fully human.”
Theater teacher Marissa McCoy adds, “Christian excels academically and in theater. He’s a Stage Manager, Thespians board member, and a key player in musical theater. Despite his hard work, Christian is always kind, caring, and humorous. Simply put: Christian is the best!”
Advanced Placement teacher Shea Dokken says, “Christian understands concepts beyond the textbook and works collaboratively with others, helping them progress alongside him. He’s not just a great student, but a great person.”
