Rebecca is a remarkable student. She is ranked number two in our high school while taking the most rigorous classes available to her but her academic skill is not the only impressive thing about her. Rebecca was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. As a result of this illness, she has spent many years on bed rest. Her entire middle school years were spent doing classwork from her bed because she was too ill and in too much pain to move, however, this didn’t stop her from excelling academically. She has never used her illness as an excuse and has always exceeded the expectations of those around her. She has chosen to take the most difficult classes, even though the severe migraines and body pain can feel excruciating, she chooses to push through the pain. She is an exemplary person who is as tough as they come. Her hard work ethic and ability to rise above difficult situations is unparalleled.
