Heart of America, a partner with CCSD since 2023, collaborates with communities and partners to increase access in education.
Heart of America, in partnership with the NBA and State Farm, spearheaded a classroom transformation project at Kenny C. Guinn STEM Academy, receiving a new STEM lab equipped with new computers and virtual reality headsets.
- This donation was coordinated through the Community Engagement Department with the help of the Facilities Management Department.
A dedication ceremony in July included over 150 Guinn students, staff, families, and community members.
- Heart of America held STEM activities in the classroom, and the NBA hosted a sports clinic, including former NBA standout Mitch Richmond and New York Knicks point guard Miles “Deuce” McBride.
“We are grateful to have partnered with the NBA and State Farm to bring a cutting-edge STEM lab to Kenny C. Guinn Middle School STEM Academy,” said Heart of America President and CEO Jill Heath.
- “This initiative is about more than technology—it’s about inspiring the next generation of innovators, creators, and leaders,” Heath said.
Heart of America also helped secure a sponsorship from the WNBA, NBA, and State Farm in July 2023 for two room transformations at Grant Sawyer Middle School — a wellness room and a STEM classroom/lab.
The Community Engagement Department is working with Heart of America on prospective projects, focusing on finding sponsorships for STEM lab transformations and/or literacy-related refreshes.
