School Board names new school after Tyrone Thompson

The Board of School Trustees unanimously approved Tyrone Thompson Elementary School as the name of CCSD’s new school under construction at Mountains Edge Parkway and El Capitan Way

Assemblyman Tyrone Thompson’s life was guided by his deep desire to be a dedicated public servant to build stronger and safer communities. Born and raised in Clark County, Mr. Thompson represented the growth and transformation of our valley. He spent most of his life in Southern Nevada, from attending Clark County School District (CCSD) schools to 25-plus years in public service across multiple sectors. Assemblyman Thompson died unexpectedly while serving our community during the 2019 legislative session.

Tyrone Thompson Elementary is expected to be completed in time for the 2020-21 school year and will feature 53 classrooms including a science classroom, art classroom, library and two flex classrooms.
