Online tool improves parents’ insight into their child’s progress at school

The Clark County School District is always exploring ways for families to become more engaged with their child’s school and academic progress. A great tool that CCSD uses to enhance engagement is its online information system, Infinite Campus, which is available to parents and caregivers 24 hours a day.

Infinite Campus provides access to vital information about a student’s progress including:

  • real-time student attendance and grade information
  • upcoming assignments (and those that might be missing)
  • student’s schedule, past state assessment results, immunization records
  • unofficial transcripts
  • annual registration (using the Campus Parent application)

Sometimes, however, individuals are unfamiliar with how to access and monitor this information – but CCSD’s Family and Community Engagement Services (FACES) is there to help.

FACES provides families with a hands-on course to provide parents and caregivers the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the Infinite Campus Parent portal. The course is part of the University of Family Learning (UFL) “On the Go,” ensuring that parents can access FACES services in virtually any setting – including schools, libraries, community centers, and FACES Title I family engagement centers.

Families are encouraged to take advantage of the many features of Infinite Campus. Individuals can select language preferences and customize the system to receive text notifications from Infinite Campus for updates on attendance, assignments and grades.

One of the District’s priorities in its five-year strategic plan, Focus: 2024, is to leverage its resources to help parents/guardians support student achievement and attendance. This support is essential in ensuring all students are on the path for academic success.

Infinite Campus is a valuable resource for parents to make sure their child is meeting their academic goals on time. Infinite Campus provides parents and students with a lot of valuable information beyond grades and attendance. Infinite Campus even enables parents to ensure their child is on the path for graduation. Infinite Campus also provides an “academic planner,” access to current progress reports, and student assessment results.

Another benefit of Infinite Campus is that it allows parents to email their child’s school and teacher directly with any questions or concerns, allowing for direct communication. Infinite Campus furthers easy communication between families and schools so that CCSD can foster and build strong school-home partnerships.

FACES offers an Infinite Campus Parent portal class at all of the Title I Family Engagement Centers and at any CCSD school through the University Of Family Learning “On The Go.”
